The Jensen Ranch is a family owned and operated ranch in northwest North Dakota.  We currently have three generations working on the ranch and we have been raising commercial cattle for several generations.  

 

In the early 1980’s we started buying Gelbvieh bulls and a few Gelbvieh or Gelbvieh influenced females.  Since that time, we have crossed back and forth with Red Angus and Gelbvieh. After raising Gelbvieh females and appreciating the great traits they have to offer, we decided we would like to start a seedstock business of Gelbvieh and Balancer cattle.   

 

In 2006 we started an AI program and then began recording and registering our replacement heifers as half-bloods and have been breeding up to purebred cattle since. In 2015 we started a breeding program where every cow gets one chance at getting AI bred before being turned out to pasture with a clean-up bull for 55 days. The year 2019 was our first year with an embryo transfer program that we are hoping will also help improve our genetics. We are currently running purebreds along with our commercial cattle and offering yearling bulls and heifers for sale by private treaty.
